Baby Bird Cuppies!

Today’s our neighborhood egg hunt so I agreed to make some cupcakes.  Saw these adorable little bird ones on Martha Stewart and fell in love with how easy they were the cute little blue birds.

These were SO simple and quick to make!  Just slap some buttercream on that baby and roll it in toasted coconut. I used a #10 tip to pipe the blue birdie blobs.  Then a #67 leaf tip to pipe the yellow beaks.  A #2 tip for the eyes.

Normally my kids are my biggest fans. They are a huge boost to my ego.  This time, they weren’t feeling it quite so much.

Emma: Kids don’t like coconut.

Stevie: It would look better with a bloody worm.

Emma: Stevie, that doesn’t even make sense!  Chickens don’t eat bloody worms!

Me: Huh?? Just go away.

Then my friend noticed that the above poor birdie looked like he was pooping a coconut turd.  That was enough to turn my son. He is full-force on my side now! Phew!
