Teachers Love Gift Cards!

Teachers love gift cards, and this is our favorite way to personalize them!

We’ve been doing this as our end-of-the-year gift for a couple years now and it’s always a huge hit!

About 3 years ago I went to Michael’s and stocked up on these chipboard booklets, all ready to go for just $1.

Then I just cut my scrapbook paper to fit, cut a piece of plain paper to fit on top and attached them all using double-sided tape. I have the kids write the captions so it’s more personal than just typing it up.

I love how it turned out and so did the teacher! The gift cards are each for $5 so including the $1 I spent on the booklet (I had all the papers), it was only $21 for a teacher who was highly deserving!

Edited to add: as our budget has gotten a bit more comfortable, we’ve added a few extra pages! :)

And because 5 pictures seems to max out my attention span, I somehow missed taking a pic of the last gift card. It was for Blockbuster and said, “See a good movie”.

Over the years, we’ve tailored some of the gift cards for the specific interests of that teacher.

Some teachers get a gift card to Pet Smart that says, “Spend time with your dog!”. Some get one to a sports store that says, “Play baseball with your kids.” And on and on!  We try to include something specific to each teacher if we can!

Our teachers have just loved these little books! We’ve had teachers take our kids and start going around the school showing other teachers the book. One teacher even started crying, and who cries over gift cards?! It’s just that personal touch that sets it apart!

Hi, I'm Natalie and I like to move slowly (like a turtle, if you will)! I daydream about minivans, painting walls and eating fudge with a spoon. Welcome to my little computer home where I share my family's adventures as we live life from the slow lane!
