Backyard Frisbee Tic Tac Toe and Clown Water Pumper Games How To. 2 Fun Outdoor Games and Backyard Games for Kids That Make for Perfect End of School Party Games.

With the end of the school year comes end of school year parties. And since I love planning school parties, I (of course) got involved!

This year, I wanted to come up with some great outdoor games for kids to play. These games were a huge hit – just as much fun as my Grinch party for my daughter’s class and my backyard carnival games party. And I’ll definitely be adding it to the other backyard games we play on family game night, like backyard Yardzee.

Because we had so much fun with them, I wanted to share them here.

First, I’ll share my super easy giant backyard frisbee tic tac toe game, the a fun game to play with water pumpers!

DIY Giant Backyard Frisbee Tic Tac Toe

For my son’s end of school year party, I made a giant firsbee tic tac toe game!

This game is so easy to make, and the kids loved it.

I bought a cheap shower curtain and cheap painters tape from Dollar Tree, and taped out a giant Tic Tac Toe grid with the tape on the shower curtain.

So far, so good, right?

Then I set out 6 frisbees. The kids had to stand behind a line and throw the frisbees onto the tic tac toe grid in order to make a vertical, horizontal, or diagnol line with their frisbees (just like in tic tac toe).

It’s not as easy as you might think it is, and the kids loved it. I’ll definitely be using this over the summer too as an easy DIY backyard game for my kids and their friends, and also for family parties!

How to Make My DIY Giant Backyard Frisbee Tic Tac Toe

Frisbee Tic Tac Toe Materials:

• Shower curtain or shower curtain liner
• Painters Tape
• 6 Frisbees (ideally, you’ll have 3 frisbees in one color and 3 frisbees in another color. If not, just make sure the kids remember which frisbee belongs to who).

Instructions to Make the Tic Tac Toe Board:

• Lay out a shower curtain and tape a 3 x 3 grid onto it using painter’s tape
• Set out a throwing line from which players must stand. Use a stick, tape, etc., or whatever you have lying around.

How to Play Frisbee Tic Tac Toe:

• Each player stands behind a designated “throwing line.”
• Players take turns throwing one frisbee at a time until one player has achieved 3 in a row with their frisbees. As with regular tic tac toe, the 3 in a row can be vertical, horizontal or diagonal.  

Quit Clowing Around Water Pumper Game

The other game I prepared was this “Quit Clowning Around” Water Pumper Game.

It was even easier!

I made up these clown signs, had them laminated, and stuck the onto some stakes.

The kids used water pumpers to aim and shoot at them. At least, they shot at them for a little bit.

Eventually they just started soaking each other, which was also fun!

It was a great day weather wise and I didn’t even get a headache! There’s something about me and going in for these class parties that I ALWAYS come out with a headache! But not today! Feeling great! Well, aside from the fact that I’m about to bawl because my kids are another year older…

Gigantic Backyard Frisbee Tic Tac Toe

Backyard Frisbee Tic Tac Toe is a fun outdoor game for kids and family that's easy and cheap to make.

Total Time 10 minutes

Materials

• Plain shower curtain
• Colorful painters tape that stands out from the shower curtain color
• 6 Frisbees (ideally, 3 frisbees in one color and 3 frisbees in another color. If you don't have 2 sets of different color matched frisbees, just make sure players remember which frisbee belongs to who).
• A stick or something to indicate where players must stand to throw their frisbees from

Instructions

How to Make the Tic Tac Toe Board:

1. Lay out a shower curtain and tape a 3 x 3 grid onto it using painter's tape
2. Set out a throwing line from which players must stand. Use a stick, tape, etc., or whatever you have lying around.

How to Play Frisbee Tic Tac Toe:

1. For a 2-player game, have both players stand behind the designated throwing line.
2. Taking turns, each player should throw 1 of their frisbees, aiming to hit one of the tic tac toe squares taped onto the shower curtain.
3. Continue alternating throws until 1 player gets 3 in a row - all 3 of their frisbees in a line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) within the tic tac toe grid.
