Quick and easy cookies to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday!
(and this is going to be a quick and easy post because I'm tired.)
For these super simple cookies, you need small sugar cookies, red fruit roll-ups, marshmallows and some icing. I cheated and used a bag sugar cookie mix. I got exactly 36 out of it and I think they were the perfect size! For my fruit roll-ups, I cut them into about 12 strips each.
Then you just roll the fruit roll-up strips around your marshmallow and it will stick to itself.
A front and back beauty shot of this lovely...
Then you just ice that cookie and place your "hat" on top!
I also made some easy cupcakes with some free printable toppers that I found online, but I absolutely cannot find the link to the printables anywhere (which means that I looked for 2.4 seconds and then my eyes started crossing, so I gave up), so I'm not going to share them here since I can't link back to the source. If I happen to find it again, I'll share the cupcakes then. You know, when it won't really matter because his birthday is long gone. It's how I roll.
Please take note that I used Yertle the Turtle for my backdrop since this is
A Turtle's Life for Me. This book was one of my "turtle gifts" from my
MamaTurtle for Christmas right before my first son was born! Love!

So cute. I tried to make some with the red melting chocolates and marshmallows ~ total FAIL!
Very cute! So clever.
What a cute and easy idea! Gotta go get some fruit roll-ups...
Super cute!! I made some hats with the red melting chocolate last year- should've done this instead! It's way easier and the lines are smoother than mine were. Cute, cute, cute! And I LOVE that line from Yertle the Turtle, it's one of my faves :)
Natalie, I just wanted you to know that it wasn't your fault I messed up your red melting chocolate cookies, it was all mine. I just wrote up a post about my mistakes. http://www.cometogetherkids.com/2012/03/my-lesson-from-dr-seuss.html
