I’m going to be the first to admit, that I’m not exactly known for being a girly-girl.
Things like hair and make-up don’t really come naturally to me, and while I’m at it, I’ll go ahead and throw jewelry in there too. It just isn’t something I know a lot about it!
But there is most definitely one thing that I do know. I have been wearing my engagement ring for a little over 13 years and it still brings a big, goofy grin to my face. It’s as sparkly and shiny as if it was brand new and, yes, my loves… it’s platinum.
I’ve been hearing about platinum quite a bit lately and judging by what I learned from writing this post, that should come as no surprise! It’s actually a pretty neat little metal! Did you realize that it’s a naturally white metal, so it never fades or needs to be re-plated? That’s quite the difference from white gold that needs to be re-dipped about once or twice a year if it wants to retain it’s white color! Yikes!
It’s also the densest precious metal around (40% denser than 18K gold!). And here’s the thing… if you follow me at all, you should know by now that I like to save a dollar in most areas of my life. But that doesn’t mean that I like cheap things. I actually will spend money on quality items if it means I save money down the line on repairs and replacements. Platinum would be a case in point! Because it’s the densest precious metal, it creates the most secure settings and also gives you the best value for your hard-earned dollars. That sounds like a winning scenario to me! And for the first time in recent history, the price per ounce for gold is higher than the price per ounce for platinum, making it an even better value! The positives just keep adding up here, people!
And remember when I told you how sparkly it was…
Even though I’m “not a jewelry girl” it’s hard not to ooh and ahh over that! And maybe just maybe send the link to my dear sweet husband! After all, if he bought it once, he might just buy it again and Mother’s Day is coming up if I’m correct…
