Trim Down Thursday #2 with Nutrisystem, #NSNation

Whelp, I have officially had my first holiday while on Nutrisystem, and I can tell you that it was kind of just, eh.

I know, totally descriptive review, huh?  I don’t know. It wasn’t terrible and I exercised “some” self-control, but I didn’t stick to the plan that day and it was obvious.  How did everyone else do?

I did fairly well with my water challenge from last week, but it’s definitely something I have to stay conscious of if I want to get all of my water in!  I did notice the one day wasn’t the best in terms of water intake and I was starving almost the whole day.   It really does keep you full rather than turning to snacks.

Last week I got a comment from someone (and honest to goodness, I have gone back over the comments and emails looking for it and I can’t find it anywhere, but I promise it was there!!), asking how I approach dinner and the fact that I’m eating differently than my family.

So far, it actually hasn’t been too difficult!  I still feel like I’m only making one meal (the one for the other 3), because the Nutrisystem meals are so easy and ready to go.  Once I have their meal going, I pop over to my freezer or pantry and see what I have in my stash that is comparable.  Last night I made them BBQ pork chops on the grill with a salad.  I made some Nutrisystem Adobe Rubbed Pork for myself and had a salad, as well.  It honestly wasn’t that hard and seemed “almost” like the same meal. It doesn’t always work out quite so neatly, but it’s not terribly hard.  I made them homemade pizzas the other night so I had a Nutrisystem thick crust pizza.  Over the weekend, my husband made french toast, sausage links and scrambled eggs for a big breakfast. I had the Nutrisystem french toast and 2 scrambled egg whites.  Heck yeah, I wanted some sausage, but it’s manageable and I know I have to think long-term and not just what I want at that meal.

I’m disappointed to say that this is the end of my 2nd week and I still can’t say I’ve had a week with no straying from the plan.  It’s happened a few times each week, BUT… there have been many, many more times each week when I was tempted and resisted.  Many times, so let’s just focus on that, mkay??

My official weight loss for week 2: 1 lb. even

Total weight loss: 6.4 lbs.

I’m good with that. As long as we’re moving in the right direction, I’m going to do my best to be happy about that.

And to help me stay happy and motivated, because I’m such a visual person… I’m made myself some marble jars! 

 You bet your bottom dollar, these are the same marble jars I used for my kids when they were toddlers and I was trying to motivate them!

I just took the labels off the top and replaced them with what I needed to see!  My goal is to lose 40 lbs., so I put 40 marbles in the Lose It! jar and every time I weigh-in, I’ll move the correct # of marbles over!  I’m only going with whole numbers here, so 5.4 lbs. for my 1st week means I can only move 5 marbles over.  We’ll see how that ends up playing out, but I can’t think of any other way to do it!

My goal for this week is to add more exercise in.  I’m so sporadic and need to get on a regular schedule and get back to the gym after not going for almost 2 months (gasp!!).

  2. Love this! I really need to focus on becoming healthier, myself. I’m drinking the water and you’re right! One does feel fuller when the water take is as it should be. Your marble jars are adorable! I have 2 cylinder vases with glass beads (from the Dollar Store) that I was tracking my weight loss with a few months back. I’ve never been “thin” so I so need a visual! Thanks for motivating me to getting back on track :) You go girl!

  3. I love this idea!! Good for you, 1 lb. is very good especially during a holiday weekend. I had a hard time not having my usual cookout type foods. I made a WW potato salad and buffalo burgers. I didn’t enjoy the salad at all but the burger wasn’t bad. And I cheated with a small soft serve cone. Ooops! I think I’m down 1 lb. from last week. I have weigh in tonight.

  5. A pound is a pound! Good job! In my journey I’ve had bigger weeks and VERY small ones, but it all averages out to 1 lb. per week and I’m happy with that since it will stay off better if it is lost slowly.

    I have numerous temptations like you do…food is such a tricky thing and it’s hard not to want to eat treats at picnics and on the holidays. Hang in there and allow yourself a bite if it will make you feel better.
