$3 Headboard!

Sharing is caring!

Our master bedroom is small, small and there are hardly any options for where to put our bed.  We settled on this spot last year and it’s my favorite because the bed is totally hidden when you’re standing in the kitchen or dining room. I used to hate being able to stand at the kitchen table and see my bed (because I am the first one to admit that I do NOT make it every day).

So I love this spot except the headboard overlapped the window sills and now that was a new thing to drive me nuts.  I wasn’t a fan of the headboard to begin with and we lost an inch or so of floor space by having to stop at the window sills.

Here’s the before, take note of the metal blinds that refused to go up evenly or stay up!

So we made a headboard out of beadboard!  A friend had the beadboard left over from a project so that was free!  We bought the trim and my husband cut everything and I painted it all!

I’m SO happy with how it turned out and it really brightens up the whole room!

I found the blinds on clearance at Lowe’s for $11 each and I LOVE them!  The color is perfect and they keep the room so dark!

The pillow is the one that I made from a thrift store tie and clearance napkins.

I showed the wreath that I made for a quarter over here and I just stapled the ribbon onto the trim.  The bird pictures we had before (a Christmas Tree Shop find) and they’re just sitting on the ledge.

This is one of my favorite projects to date because it was SO cheap and easy and makes an unbelievable difference in this room!  Every time I walk into my bedroom I just stare at it and smile!

Breakdown:
Beadboard- FREE from a friend
Trim- About $3 but we have some leftover
Paint- used white paint we already had
Wreath- 25 cents
Pillow- $1.50
Blinds- $22

So the total room transformation for us was about $27 but just the headboard was only $3 and I am in love!

I’ll try to get better pictures later when it’s not so sunny out and but I was too excited to post it!  Sorry it’s so washed out!

This is gorgeous -- I found your blog from Pinterest. I have seen a few other bloggers do this, and am wondering what it looks like behind the bed. Did you bring the beadboard all the way to the floor? I imagine the bed covers any overlap so I guess it works, right?
