Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels

Sharing is caring!

These Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels fall pretty solidly in my list of top 5 foods I’ve ever made.

These sea salt chocolate covered caramels are SO easy to make and are pretty much the best candy I've ever eaten!

The caramels are so soft and buttery and the sweetness of the chocolate paired with the sprinkle of sea salt is the perfect combination.

Honestly, you need to try these and be sure to follow every step! The combination is what makes them spectacular!

These make a huge batch and last for 1-2 weeks, so they’re perfect to make at the beginning of your Christmas cookie and candy making session! You can also combine making these with other caramel recipes, like salted chocolate caramel cupcakes, caramel marshmallows, and mini chocolate caramel tarts, as they all use the same easy caramel base.

They package up so well too, and you might just make some new best friends with these yummies.

I dropped some off with my parents when I made them and almost started getting annoyed with how many times my dad kept texting and posting about them. And by annoyed, I mean flattered. He’s not even a sweets guy and he loved them!

Directions:

Start with a batch of my Easy Caramels. You will never believe how simple these are to make!

Once your caramels have set in the fridge for a couple of hours, it’s time to start dipping them!

Line some cookie sheets with wax paper and have your sea salt ready to go.

In a microwaveable-safe container, melt 2 cups (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips with 2 tbsp plus 2 tsp. of shortening.

I melt for 1 minute then stir. Then 20 seconds and stir. Repeat again if necessary, but it should be pretty smooth by then and ready for you to dip!

I place the caramel on a fork and then use a spoon to cover the top. Tap the fork against the side of the container gently to remove excess chocolate and then place on the wax paper trays.

You could dip it straight down into the chocolate as well if that’s easier for you.

Just don’t worry too much about how messy they look on the pan! They clean up nicely and the taste more than makes up for it!

Then sprinkle your sea salt on top and place cookie sheet in fridge to let the chocolate set.
