These salisbury steaks with gravy can be made in the oven and will leave you with plenty of free time while they cook! Easy enough for kids to help with too!
I get emails all the time from readers asking me how I involve my kids in the kitchen. How do they help with meal prep and what age did they start?
My answer is always the same… involve them early and make it easy.
If I throw a complicated recipe at them that isn’t even one of their favorite meals, they will lose interest fast. But if I make sure it’s easy enough to help them feel confident and a meal they will enjoy eating, our chance of success is much higher!
One of our favorite ways to do this is to make sure we always have fully-cooked, ready-to-heat entrées in our freezer. My kids don’t care if it’s fancy. They just want really good food in some of their favorite flavors. And the bonus is that the more hands-off I can be, the more time it leaves me to get some other much needed tasks done.
One of my goals for the new year is to manage my time better. I’m not exactly well known for being organized! But I’m determined to use a planner this year for both my personal life and my work life! This is a radical new way of living for our family, so cross your fingers that it works!
Another way I’m planning on managing my time is by getting everyone involved more. While my kids aren’t strangers in the kitchen, I want to be a bit more consistent about how often they’re involved with making dinner. After all, it’s only a few years till they head off for college, so I need to make sure they’re ready!
This is the perfect meal for my kids to handle all by themselves. I love that On-Cor does all the prep work for them, so I can get chores (or the dreaded planning) done while they make dinner! It’s the perfect answer for moms like me who want convenient, quality dinner solutions for our busy families.
It doesn’t hurt either that their entrées are multi-serve and hearty. Just ask my 15 year-old son. I swear, you’ve never seen a kid eat like him before! So it doesn’t hurt one little bit that his favorite Gravy & 6 Salisbury Steaks now have 20% more meat!
On-Cor’s new packaging is great for me as a mom so I can see at a glance exactly what I’m feeding my family (can I get a whoop whoop for no MSG added!). It’s also great for my kids because it gives clear, easy instructions for them to follow and help build their confidence in the kitchen!
It’s so great to have them call us to the dinner table and see the proud smiles on their faces when they serve us!
