Have I ever told you guys how much I love Allison from House of Hepworth’s? I’m not one to get all swoony and flustered at the site of celebrities, but Allison totally had me tongue-twisted when I randomly bumped into her in an elevator at Haven in June. Then I spent the rest of the conference simultaneously trying to avoid her and do everything I could to put myself right in her path! But it wasn’t meant to be and we never connected again for the rest of the conference (yes, I realize I could have just gone right up and introduced myself, but let me assure you it would have gone very badly and I most likely would have snorted or farted or done something similarly unflattering).
I just think she’s so stinkin’ cool and I love how down to earth she seems! Plus, she’s got some of the coolest projects this blog world has ever seen!
I loved her version of the “Be Awesome” sign and knew that I had to have it in my bakery. It just makes me smile every time I look at it! Unfortunately, though, the walls at the bakery don’t seem to have any studs at all, so hanging anything heavy is off-limits. So instead of the cool, weathered wood look, I went with a canvas that I’ve had leaning against a wall in the basement for over a year now. I originally picked it up for $10!
First I spray painted the entire board with a spring green. Then I cut out my letters using my Silhouette, some leftover white vinyl and some contact paper.
My words didn’t quite fill the whole canvas, so I added a little row of stars at the bottom, because stars are pretty awesome!
This was done at 9:30 p.m. last week, exactly one day before my grand opening at the bakery. So, yeah, pitch black and I couldn’t really tell what I was spray painting and what I wasn’t. Luckily I didn’t end up with white shoes, so I think I had pretty good aim. I’d love to weather it up a bit, but there is just no time for that right now!
I love it! For $10 and a huge impact, you can’t go wrong!! Be awesome, people!
