Oh my goodness, the ultimate dessert has finally reached my mouth.
I saw this on Pinterest last week and it took me almost a whole week to finally make it and now I need it out of my house. I will eat the entire pan without any issues whatsoever. When I saw the picture it didn’t even make sense to me. How could it look so delicious? Could it possibly be as delicious as the picture made it look? How had I never come across this before??
I traced the picture back to The Girl Who Ate Everything and saw she got the recipe from a reader who wrote in. Come on Turtle readers… start sending me recipes like this!!
It’s really, really fabulous. Your hips might regret it, but it’s worth it.
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
Mix and add to the above mixture:
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
Mix in pan and bring to a boil:
3/4 cup butter
6 Tbsp buttermilk
1/2 cup peanut butter
Take off stove and add:
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar and 1 Tbsp vanilla. Pour over warm cake.
In other related peanut butter news… I also made a cake for a friend’s birthday this weekend. Her husband requested a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing so I went to my trusted Smitten Kitchen recipe. I’ve made this a few times and it never fails to bring rave reviews. I mean, come on guys, she’s gotten 812 comments on it… it’s pretty darn good!
