Ground beef always seems to stump me a bit when it comes to how to prepare it. I know all the basics, but I never seem to experiment with it the way I do with other cuts of meat.

I’ve shared with you my favorite marinade for steak and a great dry rub recipe for other cuts of beef.

How to grill the perfect steak

But, I’ll be honest,  I very rarely do anything fancy with ground beef. I’m not sure why, but our ground beef usually seems to end up as tacos, hamburgers or meatloaf. Pretty much as basic as you can get.

I have freezing ground beef down to a science and shared all about my tips and tricks before. And we truly do use this often. It makes meal time so much easier and allows everybody to pitch in and help out with the dinner prep.

The other week, though, I was faced with a 1 lb. package of 100% grass-fed, hormone and antibiotic free beef from The Butcher Box. It was gorgeous and looked so much different from the low-quality beef I get from the grocery store.

I just couldn’t bring myself to fry it up with some taco seasoning or make a plain ole meatloaf. Just couldn’t do it.

I wanted to try something a little bit different and I was really in the mood for some Asian food. Well, honestly, I’m always in the mood for Asian food, but I’m not always in the mood to pay for take-out.

I looked up a couple recipes online to get the basic gist of what types of ingredients I could use for a beef dish over rice. Then I hit my pantry to figure out how that correlated to what I actually had on-hand.

This little challenge I give myself of how to recreate meals without having to go to the store for more ingredients, does not always work out. Trust me. There have been some serious fails. Most notable recently were some fish tacos, where I really just should have gone and bought some cabbage.

But, fortunately, that was not the case with this Sticky Korean Beef! It turned out amazing!!

And I’m totally making up the name for the recipe because it sounds appetizing to me. But I can be a freak… when you see “sticky” to describe a meat, does that sound good to your?? Or is that unappetizing??
