As soon as I realized we were going through with this crazy bakery/ice cream shop purchase, my main goal was to figure out how I could save money and where were places I can skimp. Ahaha, my specialty!!
One of the places I knew I could do without big expensive bills, was with the decorating. I saw the coolest string and nail art on this site (I think it’s called JK or JKizzle?!), that she used to spell out Bon Appetit in her kitchen. I actually saw this well before this whole deal went down and knew I wanted to incorporate it somewhere, but also knew my husband would not be too agreeable to that many holes in our kitchen walls.
This pegboard wall in the ice cream parlor was perfect!
Well… perfect except for that awful hot pink color. So first thing we did (we meaning a completely awesome friend who just popped in to paint at the end of her long work day), was paint it a fresh, clean white. But even white it was still huge and empty. And my wallet was still being stretched pretty thin, so I remembered that awesome string art that I had pinned and set another friend to work. Yes, it was easy enough that I could have done it myself, but she eyeballed it and got the width perfect with absolutely no measuring at all. I guarantee you, that I could NOT have done!
And while a full-on shot isn’t the most eye-pleasing, this gives you a better idea of how big it is. This much impact for just a hair over $7 total. Love it!
