You know what I’m in love with today???
Support!! All kinds of support. Support in the form of comments, people in real life asking me how it’s going and not offering me sweets, my family acting like my meals are the best looking food they’ve ever seen and I’m so lucky I get to eat them, people on the same journey linking up so we can encourage each other, and, yes, even the support of my favorite bra I’m wearing today. All kinds of support.
My first week on Nutrisystem is officially over and I have to say that it went much more smoothly than I anticipated. I wasn’t completely faithful, but the couple times I did veer off track (ummm, french fries at a baseball game. oops!), I got right back on and didn’t let it make me feel defeated.
The organized food was a HUGE mental help to me. Honestly, I’m a walking mind game, so knowing exactly where I have to look for my food instead of searching the whole pantry and fridge was such a blessing. I’m thinking I should get some more bins and make one for the kids too, so I never have to hear, “I can’t find anything!!”. Go look in your bin, child.
You know what else was a HUGE help?? Having other blogs link up and reading their journey! Because we’re all at different points, so it’s unbelievably motivating to me to read about someone like Bethany from The Vitt Family who’s been on this journey since the end of last year and is over 3/5 of her way there! You MUST go look at her picture, because it’s absolutely adorable and she deserves lots of virtual high-5’s for doing what she did! (what did she do?? I dunno, go look!)
Caits from The Only One Mama linked up too and had a great idea where she lists her weekly motivation. This week, her motivation was that her pants are feeling looser. Ummm, heck yeah, I’d say that would be motivating! I think I’m going to adopt this too, because even on the slow weeks, it will be nice to acknowledge something good that’s happening!
Know what else I loved?? Jules from My Mom’s a Whack Job! (haha!!) linked up too and she breaks her goals down into smaller, more attainable goals. I for one, can start to feel discouraged if all I keep thinking is, “I need to lose 40 lbs. and I’m not there yet. I’m not there yet. Still not there yet.”. But when you break it down into smaller goals, you can reach them faster and feel as if you’re making progress and accomplishing something. Score!!
Sarah from The Crazy House Reviews was our other blogger to link up last week and I’m SO glad she did because she’s following the Nutrisystem program, as well, but she’s a week ahead of me, so I can follow her progress and use her as my inspiration! No pressure or anything, Sarah! I totally agree with her, though, that the food was SO much better than I expected!! I’m loving the shakes (and they totally fit my crazy mornings). The breakfast burrito was awesome and so were the pancakes! I’m trying to eat one of everything quickly, so I know what I want to re-order next time, but I actually like everything so much that I just keep eating the same things!
And because the food was so good (and despite of the fact that I had a couple slip-ups), I still managed to lose 5.4 lbs. in the first week!!! I’ll take it!
My goal for this week is to get all 64 oz. of water in each day. I did really well the first 3 or 4 days, and then it just kind of tapered off as I got busy with work/school functions. So, I grabbed my trusted Sharpie and the water bottle that NutriSystem set me and I came up with a little system. I saw this pinned and, unfortunately, the pin didn’t lead back anywhere, but I loved the idea!
A couple years ago, I was wearing a pedometer daily and had the goal of reaching 10,000 steps every day. If it was bed time and I hadn’t reached 10,000 yet, I would just start walking up and down the hallway and around the bed until I did. My husband thought I was nuts, but I had to see that number flip. I’m thinking this water bottle will motivate me the same way. If I can see it reaching each new milestone, then I’ll continue on!
Weekly motivator: Seeing that number drop on the scale for the first time in about 10 months!!
How did you guys do?? Anything specific we can encourage you with?? Link up and let us know and don’t forget to leave comments for each other… remember what I said about support! (and I promise I won’t highlight every link up, every week. I was just so excited that I had support this week!!!)
And, yes, I know that I titled last week as #1 but I really want this week to be #1 because I feel like I just completed the first week and am checking in with my first weigh-in so it should really count as #1.
